We start with a conversation, with the athlete, and for younger athletes, with their parents too. We’ll talk about their sport, their season, their current training, and their goals. No pressure, no commitment. Just an honest conversation about what they’re working toward.

Based on that conversation, we build a program designed around the athlete’s sport, age, and specific needs. Thoughtful, structured, and built to produce real results, not just make them tired.

Tom is the founder of Smart Strength and has over 15 years of experience coaching high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, including Olympic Weightlifting at the local and national level. A former NCAA athlete, Tom built Smart Strength on the belief that every athlete deserves training that is truly individualized, functional, and effective.

A former powerlifting competitor, Thad brings deep experience in both athletic performance and injury rehabilitation to Smart Strength. Currently serving as a Strength & Conditioning Coach at George Mason University, he designs and coaches programs for four varsity sports teams, giving him a front-row seat to what it takes to compete at the collegiate level.
